Toyota Projector Headlights
Here at RECON, we're a little biased, but we think that upgrading your lighting is one of the best ways to customize your truck. We offer a wide range of lighting options, including projector headlights. What are projector headlights? What benefits do they provide? Will they fit your vehicle? Read on to get answers to these questions and more.
What Are Projector Headlights?
Projector headlights are a type of light that uses a projector lens to focus the light. This results in a more intense, brighter light than traditional headlights. Projector headlights are also often designed with a cut-off shield, which means that they won't produce the "glare" that can cause problems for oncoming traffic.
Much of the hate that LED headlights get is due to the fact that they are installed in a way that produces a ton of glare — typically because the housing is designed for halogen bulbs. This is not an issue with projector headlights, so you can enjoy better lighting without worrying about blinding oncoming traffic.
Benefits of Projector Headlights
There are several benefits to upgrading to projector headlights. The most obvious benefit is that they will make it easier for you to see at night. This is particularly beneficial if you do a lot of night driving or off-roading. Additionally, projector headlights tend to last longer than traditional headlights. This is due to the fact that LED bulbs don't produce as much heat, and heat is one of the many reasons why LEDs operate nearly 90% more efficiently than traditional bulbs.
Our projector headlights also offer superior light output and safety over your factory headlights. Whether you're looking for Tundra projector headlights or Sequoia projector headlights, we've got you covered.
More Stylish
Projector headlights can give your Toyota a more aggressive and stylish look, which is a major benefit even if it isn't your main goal.
Better Light Output
Projector headlights typically have a higher lumen output than standard headlights, so you'll get more light on the road.
Lower Energy Consumption
Projector headlights tend to be more energy-efficient than traditional headlights, so that you can save some money on your electric bill.
Longer Lifespan
Projector headlights often last longer than standard headlights since they generate less heat.
Improved Safety
Projector headlights provide a clearer view of the road ahead, which can help you avoid accidents.

Installing Projector Headlights in your Tundra or Sequoia
While some people choose to take their truck to a professional for installation, it's actually not necessary — our lights are designed for easy installation, and we provide detailed instructions with every purchase. If you have any questions about the installation process, feel free to reach out to our team. We're always happy to help!
If you're looking to install projector headlights on your own, we've got you covered. Below you'll find a simple guide on how to install your new headlights.
Installation Guide
- Park your vehicle in a safe location and disconnect the battery. This is important, as you'll be working with electricity in the next few steps.
- Remove the screws that hold the headlight in place, typically requiring a Phillips head screwdriver. Depending on your model, there may be anywhere from two to six screws.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the headlight out of its housing. Be careful not to damage the housing or wiring. If the headlight is stubborn, use pliers to help get it loose.
- Cut the old wiring off close to the headlight with wire cutters. Make sure you have enough wire accessible to connect the new headlights, and be sure to discard any old wiring safely.
- Strip about 1/2" of insulation off each end of the new wiring using wire cutters.
- Twist each end of the wiring around the appropriate connector on the new headlight.
- Tape up any exposed wires using electrical tape.
- Reinstall the headlight in reverse order, making sure to reconnect the battery.
- Check that your headlights function properly before driving on the open road
Projectors or Standard Headlights — Which Is Better For You?
If you're still undecided about which type of headlights are right for your truck, it's important to consider your needs and preferences. If you want a more stylish look, projector headlights are a great choice. If you prioritize safety and long-lasting performance, projector headlights are also a good option. However, if you're on a budget or don't want to deal with installation, keeping your standard headlights in place may be a better choice.
